Read My Lips

i went to orakei school today. it's a primary school. it's an awesome school. i went there with few friends to pursuit our holy intention... to teach=P... yup we were there to teach the children how to read. some children here just don't have the chance for somebody to sit next to them, and listen to them reading. that's why some have difficulties to read.

my student was Clem. he's a 9 year-old boy. he's a tongan (tongan is people from tonga - a pacific island.. somewhere in the world, near new zealand (google it yourself)). he's good at reading but has problem whenever there's a difficult word. an example of difficult word for him is reptile, and few other words which i forgot. he got confused with 'angel' and 'angle'. i spent a couple of minutes to explain to him the difference of those words. i think it's ok for him to be confused with those words because of the last two letters. he only has problem with reading but when i corrected him, he was able to explain to me the meanings of the words that he couldn't read. i just have to ask him to read my lips so that he can imitate me. basically it was awesome teaching him. awesome enough to rip the hole in the time continuum.. haha.. i found no difficulty teaching him how to read.

i think this opportunity is just awesome. last few years, i taught kindergarden students. most of them didn't understand english very well. now i'm teaching the pacific islanders. they understand english very well, but the only problem is reading. so it's nice. and when i go back to malaysia, i'll be teaching secondary school students. can you see, i'm covering these three levels... kindergarden-primary-secondary. awesome!

next time, i think i have to apply reward system because he is easily distracted when he reads. especially with the existence of Mala next to him. Mala is a nice boy, he's 9 too. talkative and approachable. these kids didn't give much problems, for today. i hope it remains.

another cool thing is we're paid for this.. huhu.. but, i think that's not important. for me, teaching these kids is very important and valuable. these kids have very bright future. it's us to make changes (to be better of course) so that they will succeed in their lives. these innocent souls should be freed and enjoy the glory of education..=P...

and not to forget, there's one boy, he's name is 'hansome'. -_-'

oh one more thing, today is my first day riding a cab here. it's effing expensive! but the principal pays our transportation.. hihi

inside the cab.

memorial shield.. that student died i guess.
